This guide is a working draft. Elena is writing the two story sections. The structure, requirements, and resources are accurate. The personal narrative goes live soon. Get the weekly newsletter to know when.

The D7 is the visa most people moving to Portugal end up choosing. It is the visa for passive income, retirement, savings, remote work that does not fit the D8 mould. We chose it. We were almost rejected the first time. This is what we learned.

What this guide covers

  • Who the D7 is actually for
  • The income threshold and how it is calculated
  • The documents you need, and the order to gather them
  • How long it really takes
  • The mistakes that get applications delayed
  • What we wish we had known before we started
